Christmas and the New Year 2023

Welcome to 2024!
This may be a rough year. As an American, there is a great deal of political strife this year that I am concerned about. As a global citizen, the state of my homeland has the potential to ripple out across the world. I can only hope my fellow countrymen make decisions that benefit the most people.
Christmas, or Christ’s Mass, has come and gone. Where was the holiday post, you may ask? Instead of dragging everyone out of their houses and stuffing them all into a church to celebrate a man’s birthday, I am a proponent of everyone staying home. Why? Well, Matthew 6, of course!
“Be careful not to do your ‘acts of righteousness’ before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.”
“And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”
Glossing over that bit of shade Matthew has thrown at his Jewish contemporaries, it is obvious that our religious ancestors considered Worship and Works to be private affairs to be done for the sake of the doing, not for the clout.
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” If you are one of the lucky ones that are able to have your family with you, be they blood or found, spend time with them over the holidays! Where your heart is, where you feel safe, loved, comforted, and uplifted, that is your treasure.
As I don’t see any point in dragging the flock away from the treasures of their hearts, I opted to practice what I preach and skipped writing. It gave me more time with my own treasures and didn’t summon anyone to be where they didn’t need to be.
I would very much enjoy if, for the new year, followers would email me what your New Years’ Resolutions are, so that I may meditate on them and offer strength as well as growing from the contemplation of your challenges and hopes.
Sincerely,
Lady Sun
